KEEP THE FAITH

2 Timothy 4:1-8

Truth: Know and proclaim your faith. Know how to live your faith. Know that your faith will end in sight. Does your life display your faith?

I. KNOW AND PROCLAIM YOUR FAITH

  1. God will judge us all. 2 Tim 4:1; Acts 10:42
  2. Preach the Word. 2 Tim 4:2; 1 Peter 3:15
  3. Always Be ready to share your faith (doctrine). 2 Tim 4:2; 2 Tim 3:14-17; 1 Tim 4:13

II. KNOW HOW TO LIVE YOUR FAITH

  1. Know that people will reject the truth. Stand anyway. 2 Tim 4:3-4; 2 Tim 3:1; Titus 1:9; 2 Tim 3:2-7
  2. Be aware of your surroundings. Matt 26:41
  3. Expect afflictions. 2 Tim 4:5; Rom 5:3-5
  4. DO the work of an evangelist. 2 Tim 4:5; Luke 24:46-47
  5. Be sure of what you believe. 2 Tim 4:5; 1 Cor 16:13-14

III. KNOW THAT YOUR FAITH WILL END IN SIGHT

  1. All believers will be with Jesus someday. 2 Tim 4:6. 2 Cor 5:8
  2. Fight the good fight, finish your race, keep the faith. 2 Tim 4:7; Matt 25:23
  3. There is a reward awaiting the faithful! 2 Tim 4:8. James 1:12

JESUS NEVER HESITATED

1 Timothy 1:12-17

Truth: Jesus came as the Godman. Jesus came to fulfill the Law. Jesus came to die for our sins. Have you trusted Christ as your Saviour?

I. JESUS CAME AS THE GODMAN

  1. Jesus was born of a virgin. Matt 1:23; Luke 1:35
  2. Jesus was man and God. Matt. 1:23
  3. Jesus came to save His people. Matt 1:21

II. JESUS CAME TO FULFILL THE LAW Matt 5:17-18; Rom 10:4

  1. Jesus always honored God the Father. John 6:38; Matt 26:39; John 4:23
  2. Jesus honored His mother and earthly father. Luke 2:51
  3. Jesus never killed or thought wrongly about any women, or stole, or lied. Heb 4:15; 2 Cor 5:21
  4. Jesus never coveted another mans things. Matt 8:20

III. JESUS CAME TO DIED FOR OUR SINS

  1. Jesus died the cruel death of the cross without hesitation.
  2. Jesus died for our sins. 1 Cor 15:3; 1 John 3:4-5
  3. Jesus died and rose again to bring salvation to us. John 14:6; Act 4:12; 2 Cor 2:18
  4. Jesus died to save all who believe in Him. 1 Tim 1:15; John 3:16-18

WHAT A CHRISTIAN CAN DO IN THESE TIMES

Luke 10:1-42

Truth: We can Represent Jesus Christ. We can demonstrate love for our neighbor. We can Worship our LORD. What are you doing in these times for the Lord?

I. WE CAN REPRESENT THE LORD JESUS CHRIST

  1. Pray for more laborers and preach the peace of God’s kingdom has come. Luke 10:1-12; Matt 9:37
  2. Share that judgement will come to those who reject the truth. Luke 10:13-16; Rev 20:15
  3. Rejoice that your name is written in Heaven. Luke 10:17-20
  4. Know Jesus rejoices when we represent God to our world. Luke 10:21-24

II. WE CAN DEMONSTRATE LOVE FOR OUR NEIGHBOR

  1. Love for God will be demonstrated by love for our neighbor. Luke 10:25-28
  2. Recognize who our neighbor is and respond. Luke 10:29-37

III. WE CAN WORSHIP OUR LORD

  1. To worship we welcome the Lord into our home. Luke 10:38; Matt 6:21
  2. To worship we set at Christ’s feet and hear His Word. Luke 10:39; John 14:23
  3. To worship we center our lives on Christ, choosing the good part that can not be taken away. Luke 10:40-42; Matt 11:28-30

WHAT A STRONG CHURCH LOOKS LIKE

Ephesians 4:1-16

Truth: A strong church strives for unity in Christ. A strong church stands on the truth of Christ. A strong church works hard together.
Are you a strong member of a strong church?

I. A STRONG CHURCH STRIVES FOR UNITY IN CHRIST

  1. We are living as prisoners of Christ. Eph 4:1; 1 Cor 15:10
  2. We think and act like Jesus. Eph 4:2-3. Acts 11:22-26; Eph 5:9; Col 3:12

II. A STRONG CHURCH STANDS ON THE TRUTH OF CHRIST

  1. We have one body, one Spirit, one hope. 1 Tim 3:15; John 14:6
  2. We have One Lord, one faith, one baptism for all. Eph 4:4; I Tim 2:5-6; Acts 4:12; Matt 20:23
  3. We have one God and Father of us all. Eph 4:6

III. A STRONG CHURCH SERVES BY THE STRENGTH OF CHRIST

  1. We are given grace based on the work of Christ. Eph 4:7-10; Psa 68:18
  2. We are placed in the church to serve so the church will grow. Eph 4:11-13. 1 Cor 12:27-28
  3. We are sound in the faith centered in Christ. Eph 4:14-15
  4. We all contribute by serving in the church. Eph 4:16; 1 Peter 4:10-11

WHY I FOLLOW CHRIST

Matthew 16:24-28

Truth: Christ ask me to come after Him. Christ ask me to deny myself for Him. Christ ask me to take up His cross. Christ says there are great rewards for following Him. Are you following Christ?

I. CHRIST ASK US TO COME AFTER HIM

  1. Christ saved me. Matt 16:17
  2. Christ put me in His church. Matt 16:18
  3. Christ allows me to have fellowship with Him. John 14:23

II. CHRIST ASK ME TO DENY MYSELF FOR HIM

  1. Christ ask me to surrender my will to Him and obey Him. John 14:21
  2. Christ promises to empower me to do His will. Phil 2:13

III. CHRIST ASK ME TO TAKE UP HIS CROSS

  1. Christ ask me to suffer for His sake. Luke 14:26-27
  2. Christ ask me to share His gospel. Matt 16:18-19

IV. CHRIST SAYS THERE ARE GREAT REWARDS FOR FOLLOWING HIM

  1. Christ blesses my live with His presence. Matt 28:20
  2. Christ will save my love ones and friends
  3. Christ will reward my faithfulness. Vs. 27; 1 Cor 3:8

Truth: A godly father understands justification by faith. A godly father lives his faith. A godly father instructs his children in faith. Thank God for our godly fathers.

I. A GODLY FATHER UNDERSTANDS JUSTIFICATION BY FAITH

  1. He knows that salvation is by faith in Christ not by works. Rom 4:1-8; Gal 2:16
  2. He has been saved by grace through faith like Abraham. Rom 4:9-17; Gen 15:6
  3. He shares his faith like Abraham. Rom 4:11; Proverbs 11:30

II. A GODLY FATHER LIVES BY FAITH

  1. He lives for the Lord. Phil 2:12; Gen 22:7-8
  2. He lives by the power of faith. Phil 2:13-15
  3. He lives to lift up Christ. Mat 5:16

III. A GODLY FATHER INSTRUCTS HIS CHILDREN IN FAITH

  1. He loves his wife as Christ loves His church. Eph 5:25-26
  2. He loves his children by instruction and discipline. Eph 6:4; Gen 19:18; Josh 24:15; Proverbs 22:6; Deut 6:4-7
  3. He loves the church by serving. 1 Peter 4:10-11

Hebrews 11:6

Truth: Without faith it is impossible to please God. Faith is believing God is who He is. Faith is believing he will answer your prayer. Is faith in God working in your life?

I. WITHOUT FAITH IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO PLEASE GOD

  1. You can not live good enough to be saved. Gal 2:16; Titus 3:5
  2. Salvation comes by grace through faith in Christ. Eph 2:8; Rom 1:16
  3. Faith comes through hearing the Word of God. Rom 10:17

II. FAITH IS COMING TO GOD BELIEVING THAT HE IS

  1. Faith says God has always been. Gen 1:1; Psa 90:2; Isa 44:24
  2. Faith says God made us to know Him. Gen 1:27; Gen 2:7; Gen 3:8; Rom 8:16
  3. Faith says God made us to live with Him forever. John 3:16; 2 Peter 3:9

III. FAITH IS KNOWING GOD REWARDS THOSE WHO DILIGENTLY SEEK HIM

  1. Faith knows what God has done in the past. 1 Sam 17:34-37
  2. Faith knows what God is doing right now. Psa 139:7-10;23-24
  3. Faith knows that God holds the future. 1 Thess 4:13-18

  2. Commitment to Christ through action brings Holy Spirit power to our lives. John 14:21-23,26

LORD SEND US REVIVAL

Truth: Revival comes when God’s people pray. Revival comes when the Holy Sprit comes. Revival comes and brings transformation to our lives. Will you pray for revival?

I. REVIVAL COMES WHEN GOD’S PEOPLE PRAY

  1. When there is spiritual and moral decline God puts a longing in our hearts for intense prayer. 2 Chron 7:14. Acts 10:4, Acts 4:31
  2. The preached Word brings deep conviction and a desire for Christ. Acts 2:37-38; Acts 10:34-43

II. REVIVAL COMES WHEN THE HOLY SPIRIT COMES

  1. The Holy Spirit convicts so deeply that only Christ can bring relief. Acts 10:44-45; Gal 3:22
  2. The Holy Spirit revives the backslidden. Psa 51:10-13
  3. God receives glory for the salvation of sinners and the reviving of the saints. Acts 10:46, Acts 8:39

III. REVIVAL BRINGS TRANSFORMATION TO ALL

  1. Sinners are saved join the church and live for God. Acts 10:47-48. Acts 2:47
  2. Christians forsake their sins and return to fellowship and service to Christ and His church.
  3. The church has a positive effect on society.
